  • How does Flybuster work?
    • Inside the Flybuster trap is a bait that flies find irresistible. The attractant dissolves and activates when water is added to the container. Lured by the scent, flies enter the trap through the yellow top cap and drown in the water. Read more about the Flybuster trap.
       
  • Is the product dangerous or toxic?
    • The attractant is made from natural raw materials, free of harmful bacteria, and does not contain insecticides or toxins. Therefore, it is completely harmless to the environment, animals, and humans.
       
  • Is Flybuster designed for indoor and outdoor use?
    • Flybuster is only designed for outdoor use. By design, the trap gives off a pungent odor to attract flies. This odor dissipates outdoors, but indoors it would linger and leave an unpleasant smell.
       
  • What types of flies will Flybuster attract?
    • Flybuster will attract all flies that are drawn to foul-smelling and rotting materials. Flies are particularly attracted to animals and human environments where food is plentiful.
       
  • Does it catch other types of insects and bugs as well?
    • Flybuster is designed to catch flies, however it has been known to catch other insects as well.

  • How many flies can a Flybuster trap?
    • Based on our research study, once all the bait has been used, the garden size Flybuster trap can catch up to 40,000 flies! 
       
  • Does Flybuster begin to attract flies immediately?
    • Flybuster begins attracting flies once the attractant is activated by adding water to the bait in the container. You should see results in about 2 days. The flies are captured in the container for safe and easy handling.
       
  • How much area does one Flybuster cover?
    • The garden trap covers a 20 foot radius and the bucket size trap covers a 60 foot radius.
       
  • How do I use the Flybuster?
    • Flybuster is a ready-to-use products. For more information, please visit the How to Use page.
       
  • Where should I place my Flybuster?
    • You should place the garden trap 20 feet away from the target building or area to be protected. The bucket size trap should be place 60 feet away. The container should be elevated approximately 5 feet above the ground. For large areas, place traps around the perimeter 45 feet away from each other.
       
  • Is there an odor?
    • Flybuster does have an odor. The odor released by the bait is the reason our traps are so effective at attracting flies. Depending on the size of the trap you are using, it should be placed 20-60 feet away from the area your are trying to protect.
       
  • How long will one Flybuster last?
    • The trap will be effective as long as there is enough water mixed in the attractant. It should last for approximately 3-4 weeks, depending on the environment and temperature.        
       
  • Do you have any recommendations for storing a Flybuster trap?
    • We recommend storing your Flybuster in a cool, dry and well ventilated place. The bait should stay in the original container with the lid tightly closed. Avoid exposure to moisture and direct sunlight.
       
  • Do you have any safe handling recommendations?
    • The garden trap is designed for safe preparation and handling–there are no special handling recommendations. For the larger bucket trap, we recommend that you do not eat, drink, or smoke during use. Flybuster is safe and non-toxic, but we recommend wearing normal clothing with long sleeves. You should also wash your hands and other exposed areas after use. Periodically, wash clothes and protective equipment to remove contaminants. Avoid breathing vapors and contact with eyes and skin, ensure that you have adequate ventilation after adding water to the container.
       
  • Once I’m done using Flybuster, how should I dispose of the container?
    • When disposing of the garden trap, close the lid and simply place in the garbage. The larger bucket can be reused by following these steps:
      • Empty the trap–flies can be dumped into a compost heap or garbage.
      • Clean the inside of the trap.
      • Add the pre-measured quantity of bait.
      • Rehydrate the bait with 169 ounces (5 liters) of water.
         
  • How does the cost compare to other fly control products?
    • Flybuster costs only a fraction of the price of other systems in use today–insecticides, pesticides, larvicides etc. Flybuster is also far more effective than other products on the market.
